The artwork deals with the theme of INFORMATION and how it is sometimes used to address the viewer’s mind.

At the center of the drawing is the head of a girl with blood dripping from her neck. A clean cut separates her from the body that is not represented here, the morbid curiosity with which we look at the scenes of extreme violence that offer us films, news and the internet is basically a form of voyeurism and therefore a variant of pornography, so the frame of the portrait is Pornhub, a famous platform where pornographic videos are uploaded and organized by categories.

Framing the whole thing is the headline of a famous Italian newscast where a writing “Does Liberty Lead the People?” appears. The sentence refers to the work of Delacroix (in 1830, “Liberty lead the people”), created to represent the historical upheaval that France experienced during the “glorious days” in which the people turned against Charles X who had suspended the freedom of the press.

The work “Myopia” wants to analyze the direction information (and consequently also our autonomy of thought) is taking to stop and reflect, before it is too late, and distance ourselves from those mechanisms created ad hoc to manipulate mass thoughts and behaviors; the invitation is to look away and not dwell only on what is being put in front of us, without asking questions and without questioning it first.
